Day book of Horace Chase and Matthew Harvey, law partners in Hopkinton, NH. Includes information onlegal services, fees, and travelling expenses. Horace Chase was a 1814 graduate of Dartmouth College who read law with Matthew Harvey. He served as a probate judge in New Hampshire (1833-1855). Matthew Harvey was a 1806 graduate of Dartmouth College. He served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives as its speaker (1818-1820); was a Member of Congress (1821-1825); President of the New Hampshire Senate (1825-1827); Governor of New Hampshire and ex-officio Trustee of Dartmouth College (1830-1831); and Judge of the US District Court for New Hampshire (1831-1866).
